December 6, 2008  Saturday 2:00-4:00 Colonial Candy making:  Did Colonist like candy?  Did they eat chocolate bars?  What about lollipops?  In a time when sugar was sometimes a luxury and the Hershey Bar was non-existent our ancestors still had a sweet tooth to be filled. Kimberly Costa will prepare a variety of delectable 18th century sweet treats for the holiday season from period correct ingredients that will delight your taste buds.

Join HFSDV Board Member Kimberly Costa as she prepares a feast of historic treats that reflect the Dutch holiday traditions.  Visitors can view a hands on demonstrations as well as sample traditional faire.  Tours of the homestead will also be available.

Open Hearth Holiday Brunch at Pomona Hall

The Camden County Historical Society adds some magic to the Christmas season with an elegant open hearth holiday brunch in 18th-century Pomona Hall on Sunday, December 7, from 1-4 PM. Relaxing, intimate, exclusive … the perfect start to your holidays or a truly unique gift idea for someone special.

 

You'll watch noted hearth cook Mercy Ingraham prepare a meal based on authentic colonial recipes over Pomona Hall's vast open hearth, then dine by candlelight in a gracious dining room dating to 1788. Before and after brunch, relax with a glass of wine as you tour Pomona Hall, its stately elegance enhanced by the beauty of traditional holiday decorations. Also included is a tour of the Society's two-story museum. 

 

$50 for CCHS members, $60 for nonmembers.
