Love Food? Love History? Why not combine your interests! The Historic Foodways Society of the Delaware Valley (HFSDV) is a non-profit group about to celebrate its 25th Anniversary dedicated to the promotion and understanding of food and its place and contributions to history. Our members are not only food lovers, but also enjoy sharing their passion with others. While mainly concentrating on 17th through the 19th Century cooking, the Foodways Society sponsors programs throughout the year including visits to historic sites, hands-on hearth cooking, food history authors talks and lectures -- all of which normally include tasting of period foods. Many of the programs focus on the rich foodways of the greater Philadelphia region.
HFSDV holds programming events throughout the year. Many historic sites around Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware have been hosts to our events and help put into context the food, culture and time we are learning about.
